The San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) is the seventh largest school district in California, serving more than 57,000 students who speak more than 44 documented languages across 132 schools in the city of San Francisco every year. Minimum Qualifications

License

1. Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree
2. Registered Nurse license issued by State of California
3. Current health care provider CPR (health care provider)

Credential

1. Valid California Preliminary or Clear Credential in School Nurse Services

Professional Experience

1. Prior experience as a Registered Nurse through which a general knowledge and understanding of health and human relationships has been developed

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The length of the work year for all certificated staff shall be as follows: 184 days of service, [...] which includes the three
(3) District professional development days (UESF Certificated Contract 2017-2020).

In accordance with the California Standards of the Teaching Profession, School District Nurses work under the
supervision of central School Health Programs administrators and in collaboration with their school administrators, staff,
families, and community. Whether placed centrally or at school sites, School District Nurses are responsible for the
fulfillment of the essential duties set forth below:

School nurses ensure the academic, physical and emotional growth of San Francisco’s children and youth by assisting
school sites in building their capacity to meet the needs of the whole child. The mission is aligned with SFUSD goals and
priorities and evidenced in SHP goals and objectives, which are implemented under the direction of the Executive Director
of the Office of School Health Programs.
