Minimum Qualifications

  • Possession of California teaching credential.
  • Outstanding experience working with youth from diverse backgrounds and communities and an understanding of issues of oppression and transformative change.
  • Committed to youth development and empowerment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of social justice perspectives on youth development
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, the ability to form rapport with youth and build adult allies, especially across difference.
  • Reliable, responsible and organized with proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Minimum of 2 years of coordinating experience with peer youth leadership, e.g. restorative mediation, mentoring, support groups, workshops, institutional change campaigns.
  • Ability to create culturally relevant curriculum in response to youth-identified topics and to develop appropriate assessment tools.
  • Experience training young people to be leaders in their community.
  • Ability to build alliances with school-based and district-level administrators
  • Ability to collaborate and build partnerships with youth-focused community based organizations.
  • Recent experience teaching preferable.
  • Experience working in schools or school-based programs preferable.
  • People of color, bi-lingual candidates, LGBTQ candidates, and Peer Resources alumni are strongly encouraged to apply.
