Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Shoestrings School Social Worker will work a total of 219 days per school year, including the 184 calendar work days and an additional 35 extended days during the summer months.
The Tier 3 Shoestrings School Social Worker will participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team including mental health and behavioral staff. In accordance with the California Standards of the Teaching Profession, School Social Workers work under the supervision of site or central office administrators and in collaboration with their school staff, families and community and are responsible for the fulfillment of the essential duties set forth below:
The ShoeString Children’s Center, Multi-Tiered Early Intervention and Supports Program is an intensive screening & intervention behavioral diagnostic program that provides 10 weeks of intensive assessment and direct clinical services to children. The younger the child (exhibiting behaviors that interfere with the ability to access instruction/curriculum, participate in routines, build positive parent-child interactions, daily life skills, etc.) the more we will need to work with the environment he or she is in (e.g. home, school).

Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Social Work and CA PPS credential in School Social Work
- Experience coordinating and knowledge of comprehensive support systems in schools
- Experience providing case management, facilitating support groups, and delivering mental health interventions in a school setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, experience working with multidisciplinary teams in an educational setting
- Ability to organize time, energies, and workloads in effective and efficient manner (NASW Standard 2)
- Multi-cultural competency
- Knowledge and experience with computers, including: Word processing, databases, and internet access
